Family Circus (I mean Christmas) my side of the Family

Many of you that know me know that I'm kind of a goofball...no comments on that one please. So you can only imagine what happens when 60 or so people get together to celebrate a holiday on my side of the family. This not only was awesome as normal but even better that finally scheduling allowed for Emma and Megan to enjoy the likes of "my clan". They got to meet most of the cousins that they'd never met before and play with some familiar faces like Emily, Bryson and Zoe. I think they may have been overwhelmed though a bit at first - Patricks family is rather small and they have only a few cousins their age (5 I do believe to be exact) and their mom is an only child so when they walked into a firestorm of 60 people and about 30 small children they were quiet for awhile but it wasn't long until they were all running around outside playing and laughing just like I used to do at this same house not that long ago. Its so touching to see the generations change and now the kids that I played with as a child now have children that are playing with my own. Kinda warms the heart. Well more than kinda.... :) Plus to see Patrick be Santa's "helper" for the 2nd year was quite entertaining also. Thanks honey for being a good sport and bringing back YET ANOTHER tradition from my childhood.



When I was a little kid on holidays I'd always run to my mom and say "can I stay the night at Katies or can I stay the night at Crystals or at Bridgettes", now I can experience that myself. For the 2nd holiday now we have had Bryson running to us and saying "can the girls stay the night with us"? So this time we made it happen Bryson and Emily got to come home with us and the girls. Again another recycle of my own generation....so we packed them in the car and headed to Mt Juliet. We changed them into clothes we had and washed everything they had on and settled into playing at the Severs' house and watching G Force while on air mattresses in the living room eating popcorn for dinner. Needless to say my fave moment of the night was when I was getting the living room ready for movie watching I could hear from the girls bedroom all 4 children singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and I believe my favorite Christmas memory was made thus far this year. Call it emotional from being pregnant or nostalgia whatever...it was an awesome moment and I thank God for it. Well right then I did later when I was trying to sleep and got woke up that might have been an emotional pregnancy moment...big smiles followed by an evil laugh.



Thats it for now - sure more posts to come with so many fun things around the holidays....we are very lucky to have the girls this year for Christmas morning...this is my first year having kids on Christmas morning....Thank you Lord for the blessings in my life.

One Church, One Service, Under One Roof

Yesterday was the Journey Church's Christmas Service - normally we are One Church with Multiple Locations but yesterday we were One Church, One Service and we were all under one roof. What a glorious day!!! Not only did the Praise and Worship team rock thanks to the likes of Robbie C., Miranda Allen, Philip Organ, Todd Bates, Milton Sledge, Joey Lockovich not to forget the one and only hubby of mine (and a few more I left out) but we had extra entertainment with the kiddos doing renditions of Silent Night and Rudolph and the Youth Group getting right in there also. I laughed until I cried - from Cason sitting on the front row not singing to Dylan Bates trying to eat his bell to Jennifers little girls crying the whole time it made for a great, memorable day. Also man what a great day that Patricks daughters got to come see their Dad worshiping and breaking it down on auxillary for God - so glad Emma and Megan could be there. Love you kiddos. Now little Aubrey sure knew what was going on - I can't feel distinct movement but I could definitely feel something like pressure moving from side to side and little jolts of cramps or more than likely kicks. She loved the music and didn't calm down for about 3 hours afterwards....or maybe that was the coffee and donuts either way she loved it. :)

Aside from that yesterday was the anticipated return of Pastor Erik - The Incarnation of a Living God -what an amazing and highly appropriate teaching for this time of year. We love you man - so glad you are back. Congrats Bode and John Griffin and Ryan Wolfenbarger (and others) for your teachings over the last 4 weeks. You guys did great can't wait to hear more from you.

It's a girl!!!

How exciting has this week been!!??? We visited 4D Peek Ultrasound Boutique in Cool Springs on Tuesday (http://www.4dpeek.com) to find out the gender of our Baby. If you've never thought about this all you expecting mothers out there DO IT DO IT, instead of finding out the sex of your baby on a small screen they have a projector set up and its probably 5 feet by 5 feet right in front of you, its AMAZING!!! At this point you can't really feel the baby move all that much but to see your baby kicking and waving and moving is so exciting and was truly the most amazing blessing to see what God is doing right inside of my belly. We will be making our second appointment for 30 weeks soon and next time we're making sure the girls can go with us also. How cool will that be!!?? Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

So apparently the 22 ounce steak and Rambo movies we watched prior to conception didn't help the boys but we are proud to announce that Baby Severs is officially a little girl. Her first name will be Aubrey, we aren't sure on the middle name yet. For those of you who don't know ever since I was about 18 I've wanted a little girl named Aubrey. Aubrey is a family name - my Dads name was Gaylord Aubrey Yearwood and his dads name was Aubrey Yearwood and his dads name was Aubrey Yearwood....you get the idea. So what better way to honor my Daddy's memory than with our child carrying his name? As much as I screamed I wanted a boy as soon as I saw that it was a girl I immediately burst into tears because I knew I would get to honor this baby with the name of my father and my fathers father. What a great an unique man he was....I can't wait to share stories of him with her and show her the pictures of the man she was named after.

After the ultrasound we realized that we were starving and stopped by Red Robin for dinner. Beth waited on us (she's waited on us a couple of times as a church group on Sundays) and we were telling her all about us finding out about our Baby Girl. Right after we were through eating a whole crew from Red Robin came out and gave us a baby gift and a card signed by everyone that was working. They had went to Target and got us some onesies and some bibs and a sweet Mother to Be Card. As if we weren't customers for life already.

Yesterday we went back for our 4 week checkup with the OBGYN - Dr. Thompson. It was much easier to find the heartbeat this time - guess because our target isn't the size of a bean anymore more like an avocado. She said I was measuring exactly right for almost 17 weeks. Aubrey's heartbeat was in the 160's again. Meanwhile for the 3rd straight month I haven't gained any weight (actually lost a half of a pound), the doctor mentioned it but didn't stress it so I'm guessing if there isn't weight gain next time she'll give me a talking to. Funny though I feel HUGE!

So now the exciting part begins - the nursery, the clothes, the planning. Oh yeah and picking that pesky middle name. :) Here are some pictures...hope you enjoy.

Thanksgiving Holidays

Well we survived another Thanksgiving as a family - our first as a married couple but 2nd as a family.

Patrick and I started it out on Wednesday by shopping for 6 hours getting a jump start on Santa and also stopping by the movies to see 2012 - man good movie super intense. Thursday we shopped a little at Old Navy (opened at 12 on Thanksgiving OH YEAH say hello to $15 pregnancy pants) before heading to pick up the girls at 2, on the way we made our traditional stop at Waffle House for a snack. It really doesn't seem like Thanksgiving starts until we have them with us. Its amazing the love that I feel for these two beautiful girls. What a blessing God has given me not only with Patrick as my husband but with them as my daughters.

We headed to my cousin Crystals house Thanksgiving night to celebrate - the girls had a blast playing with Bryson, Emily, Vanessa & Zoey. THANKS AGAIN FOR LETTING US CRASH THE PARTY!!! The food was outstanding and the desserts were even better. Other than that on Friday we put up our Christmas tree - the new 9.5 foot Christmas tree....did I mention that its 4 feet wide at the base....yeah its huge. We all had a blast adding the new ornaments and star to the tree that we bought last year. Only lost 2 ornaments to dropping...not too bad. Also on Friday I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move for the first time. It was similar to butterflies in my stomach but it was a feeling I've never felt before. It was amazing. What a great blessing we have in our unborn baby. All the feelings of excitement and hope for the future. Can't wait to meet...."it"! :)

On Saturday after taking a few family pictures at Long Hunter State Park we went to Columbia to visit with Aunt Donna (Patricks sis) and Julianna and Andrew with Mr. Brad and Kaitlyn - we had a blast bowling. Megan dominated the kids bowling and her Daddy dominated the adults - he's a hustler waits until the 9th or 10th frame to take the lead. Made me think I was going to win. HA little did I know.

I attached a few fall pics a few taken before the Holiday and some taken over the weekend. Hope you guys enjoy. Goodness it so hard to believe that next year at this time we'll have a 7 month old!! WOW...how life changes.

First Post

So today I decided to set up the Severs Family Blog - there have been so many exciting changes this year - beginning with us getting married in April to expecting a baby (found out in October). This seemed like a great and easy way to share thoughts and exciting news and fun adventures with the people we love.

I'm not some deep thinker so not alot of my posts will be as good as some of my favorite blogs (examples Erik Reed and Amber Sanders) but you will get an insight into our daily lives which we'll take all day long.

To catch everyone up - Patrick and I are expecting an addition to our family - we're calling it Peanut and we're due May 29, 2010 - we've been to the doc a few times and actually got to hear the heartbeat last week - was at 170 - fast little thing in there....I haven't gained any weight as of yet but the doc isn't worried so neither am I. Funny thing is all of my weight is just moving to my belly - I knew I wanted smaller legs wasn't sure pregnancy was the way!!! :) I know that God has his hand on our sweet gift and thats a ton of reassurance.

For now thats all - we are getting ready for Thanksgiving with our families and putting our tree up with our girls. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
